Welcome to the “Our Athletes” page at CrossFit 60Nort, where we celebrate the heart and soul of our community—our athletes. This page spotlights the incredible individuals who inspire us daily with dedication, strength, and perseverance.
After 8 months of CrossFit I really started to notice the difference across my whole body. I started feeling more like the person I had been before becoming a mam around 9yrs previously. I took the plunge and rejoined the rugby club and played in Rugby 7s tournament finally again in June 2024 and LOVED IT!! Our team actually won that tournament, I couldn’t believe it!
So many new skills learned, things I never thought possible from full push-ups to toes to bar. I think a huge milestone was completing my CF-L1 coaching course and everything I have learned from coaching with Shelby to coaching on my own. I have loved being able to coach athletes in competitions it really has been a privilege and incredibly inspiring.
I now do burpees – that took a lot of negotiation! One workout recently the burpees felt like the rest!
I can bench 57kg, my back squat is 106kg and deadlift is 142kg.
I show up. I am consistent. I have never stuck at anything as long as I have at CrossFit.
My body shape has changed dramatically. I have lost fat and build muscle, I did not believe this was achievable for me. I had never picked up a barbell in my life until I started CrossFit, now I feel I would be lost without it in my life. I have learned many new skills and have some confidence in my own body and my strength, I have never felt or believed I am strong so I feel this is the biggest milestone personally.
When I first joined back in 2023 my mental health wasn’t the best and it affected my overall mood, body image and relationships. However that has changed this last year. I’ve created friendships and felt more welcomed into the community after moving from Orkney.
I chose to quiet on myself every time something became hard. I’ve learnt to over come this thoughts and push myself to the limit overs stepping that comfort zone and becoming better.
I walked into CrossFit 60 Nort with no idea what my strength was, or what I was capable of doing. Just the fact that I showed up everyday is a huge success in its own. I’ve gone from kneeling onto a box to jumping on a box, I faced my fear by kicking up onto a wall. I can lift pretty heavy things… and one major thing is that I never let my size or shape determine how I should move as an athlete. When I first walked in I was very aware that I was a bigger person and I was scared to move my body. This year I competed in an online competition against many crossfitters and made it through qualifiers which allowed me to travel of the island to compete at Loch Lomond (Wod on the Loch) which did involve a 4 mile kayak along the loch! I am forever grateful that I found this gym, and grateful that I found my self efficacy.
